How We Started

MotionLab Cork Limited began in 2019 because we noticed something missing. People wanted to learn visual effects and motion graphics—the real stuff, not theoretical exercises—but resources in Ireland were scattered and disconnected. We decided to fill that gap with something practical.

We didn’t start with grand promises. We started with clear teaching. Real examples. Honest explanations of particle systems, camera tracking, compositing workflows, and color grading. Over time, we’ve built educational resources that actually help people understand what they’re doing and why it matters.

Today, we’re still doing the same thing—just better. We’ve learned what sticks, what confuses people, and what makes concepts actually click. Every guide we publish, every technique we explain, gets reviewed and updated because we want it to work for you.

What We Cover

Compositing Workflows

Layer organization, pass management, color correction, and how to structure your compositing pipeline for efficiency. We break down the logic behind proper workflow setup.

Particle System Design

Creating realistic particles from emitters to forces. We cover simulation principles, realistic behavior, and how to make particles respond properly to your scene.

Camera Tracking Integration

Match moving and 3D camera tracking techniques. Learn how to integrate tracked cameras with visual effects and maintain consistency in your composite.

Color Grading for Motion

Cinematic color correction for motion projects. We explore color theory, LUTs, grade consistency across shots, and how color shapes your visual story.

Our Process

We believe good education isn’t about complexity—it’s about clarity. Here’s how we build every resource.

1

Research & Verification

We test everything in real projects. Every technique, every workflow tip—it’s been used and refined. No untested theory here.

2

Clear Explanation

We don’t use jargon to sound smart. We explain the why behind each step. You’ll understand not just how to do something, but when and why to use it.

3

Practical Examples

Every concept comes with real-world examples. We show how it applies to actual motion projects, not just theory exercises.

4

Regular Updates

Software changes. Techniques evolve. We review and update content regularly to keep pace with industry standards and new tools.

What Drives Us

These aren’t just words on a wall. They shape how we approach every guide, every explanation, every decision we make.

Core Value

Honesty

We don’t exaggerate what’s possible or hide the hard parts. If something’s complicated, we say so—and then we help you through it.

Core Value

Clarity

Confusion wastes your time. We focus on explaining concepts in the simplest way possible without losing accuracy or depth.

Core Value

Hands-On

We believe you learn by doing. That’s why everything we teach connects to practical application in real motion projects.

Where We’re Headed

We’re not trying to be everything to everyone. We’re focused on becoming the most trusted educational resource for visual effects and motion graphics training in Cork and across Ireland.

That means continuing to build detailed guides on particle system design, camera tracking workflows, compositing layer organization, and color grading techniques. It means staying current with software changes and industry standards. It means listening to what people struggle with and creating resources that actually address those challenges.

We’re also committed to making this knowledge accessible. Whether you’re a student exploring motion graphics for the first time, a freelancer looking to expand your skills, or a production team refining your pipeline—there’s something here for you.
